A cell phone is the most essential piece of equipment in college survival gear. Being able to contact fellow students, professors, and any potential employers is critical. While the most basic cell phone will do, many have opted for smart phones. Smart phones allow them to have day planners, calendars, and even do homework and or research assignments right on their phone. Not to mention any college student will want to call home. A good, reliable cell phone is an important part to any students college survival.

The internet is available on most college campuses now, and why not? The internet is a powerful research and study tool. Just a few keystrokes, and all of the information needed for a paper can be found. Many professors maintain websites where lecture notes and assignments can be found. As the internet becomes ever increasingly involved in our lives, having access to it is not a bad idea. That is why a laptop, IPad, or desktop computer is a very handy tool to have. Don’t forget that the entertainment it provides can be a great way to kick back and relax.

Depending on whether or not you live on campus, transportation can change drastically. However, no matter if it’s a small community college or a big university, getting to class on time will always be of top priority. If it’s required a reliable car or other vehicle can greatly cut down on the anxiety of whether or not you can make it to class on time. Even a sturdy bicycle is a preferable option to foot. Many universities have started providing student use bicycles for use around campus. In some bigger cities, learning how to use public transportation could mean the difference between making it to class on time, to the job, and back to the dorms with the least amount of exertion. Buses, subways, even inter-city trains can be utilized to cut back on commute times. Public transportation is a great option because it’s usually cheaper if not free for college students. It’s very reliable, and you can get some studying done while on the commute.

With a little bit of advance preparation and the proper tools, college students can have a greater chance of surviving college by having the proper college survival gear. With these few things taken care of college survival can be a breeze.
